Leanne Krueger-Braneky
Executive Director
Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia
Leanne Krueger-Braneky is the Executive Director of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia (SBN), a 530+ member business organization working to build a just, green, and thriving economy in the Greater Philadelphia region. SBN accomplishes this by educating and growing a broad base of local, independent businesses and educating policy makers and the public. For eight years, SBN has offered green technical assistance and support for local businesses in the Philadelphia region.
Under Leanne’s leadership, the Sustainable Business Network launched a new initiative in 2008 to develop a green collar job strategy for the Philadelphia region. This work led to the creation of the Green Economy Task Force, a 600-member coalition of organizations working to create green collar job opportunities for low-income communities and local businesses. In part because of this work, Philadelphia was the recipient of more Pathways out of Poverty green job training grants than any other city in the country.
Before joining the Sustainable Business Network in 2004, Leanne worked with nonprofit organizations in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, New York City and South Africa. Leanne holds an MBA in Urban Economic Development from Eastern University and a BA from Rutgers University. Leanne serves on the boards of Mill Creek Urban Farm, the Pennsylvania Center for Environmental Education and The Enterprise Center Community Development Corporation. She is a Senior Fellow of the Environmental Leadership Program and is a 2009 Pennsylvania Fellow of the Center for Progressive Leadership. Recent awards include the Next Generation of Leadership Rising Stars from Philadelphia Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds-Brown and the Green Power Award from Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future. Leanne lives in the Walnut Hill Neighborhood in West Philadelphia with her partner Dave, a Yellow Labrador Retriever named Buddy and a cat named Beatrice.
