Alliance for Global Conservation
The last remnants of the world’s natural areas are quickly disappearing. And they are taking with them the world’s wildlife and the livelihoods of millions of impoverished people who depend on these areas for survival. More than one third of the world’s known species are threatened with extinction, and as many as two-thirds of all species could be facing extinction by the end of this century. As forests, freshwater sources, healthy soils, coral reefs and species are destroyed, the world economy suffers hundreds of billions of dollars of losses and the world’s poorest people who depend directly on nature for survival are further impoverished. The burning and clearing of forests also releases 20 percent of all global greenhouse gas emissions contributing to climate change. This ecosystem destruction impacts U.S. businesses as well. Responsible U.S. companies are being undercut by illegal logging, fishing and mining around the world, which flood the international market with low-cost products.

This student-led movement seeks to promote global sustainability by identifying and eliminating toxic exposures that permeate our lives, often unknowingly, yet threaten public and environmental health. What began in the Bay Area in 2005 now has a presence at numerous middle and high schools, universities, and student organizations across the country, as well as a strong virtual platform and media presence. The TTG chapters lead grassroots efforts that aim to raise awareness and work to lessen local and global impact to inspire a generation of conscious citizens and bring about universal global health for the environment and its inhabitants.
TTG will co host the e4-NYC Conference with Collegiate School on April 23 + 24 e4-nyc.org for more information.
